Di Lin from the Ziling Sect is the ninth son of Di Batian. He and Xia Yunxi used to be Xiang Shaoyun's closest friends when they were young before they betrayed him.[4]

He was Di Batian’s most outstanding son, a ninth-stage Skysoar Realm cultivator. Someone with such strength at such an age was extremely rare in tier-7 organizations. He used to be Xiang Shaoyun closest friend back when they were young.[6]
Plotline[]
Di Lin was a special-recruit disciple of the Dragon Phoenix Academy.[7] His star assessment revealed that he have high-gradeeight-star physique. So he became a core disciple of Dragon Phoenix Academy. He's a flame cultivator with an Innate Flame Star Physique.[8] He tried to kill Xiang Shaoyun countless time but always failed. Xiang Shaoyun challenged him not long after his breakthrough to the Emperor Realm but was denied the opportunity since Di Lin send Zhu Changchuang instead. Xiang Shaoyun wasn't interested in fighting him so the fight did not happen.[9]
In the Gleamstar Blessed Land, his Di Alliance trapped a group of around 30 members of the Overlord Legion and told Xiang Shaoyun to come alone or they'll all be killed. They aren’t trapped because of the alliance’s numbers. Rather, the Di Alliance is using a terrifying weapon named the Spatial Suppression Diagram who's capable of sealing space, which is how they had managed to trap them.[10] He had been praying for Xiang Shaoyun’s death for years. To eliminate weeds, one needed to include the roots to be safe. And yet, Xiang Shaoyun was like an undying cockroach that refused to die despite the many experts sent to kill him. Additionally, those sent to kill him had all gone missing. Di Lin was unhappy with this result. Today, he wanted to make sure Xiang Shaoyun wouldn’t leave this restricted space alive.[11]
The Spatial Suppression Diagram was a counterfeit saint weapon Situ Yan had obtained from her grandfather after much begging. Although its might was incomparable with the true saint weapon, it was more than enough to trap a group of Emperors. Although these disciples were the geniuses of numerous major organizations, they did not have any saint weapons on them. Because of that, none of them had been able to escape. He successfully managed to entrap Xiang Shaoyun inside it.[12] Meanwhile, Situ Yan was acting coquettish and asked for him to reward her amply later while casting a glace at Xia Yunxi. Di Lin no longer cared much about Xia Yunxi. Perhaps he still liked her, but he would not give up on Situ Yan’s feelings for him. After all, it was normal for a man to have multiple wives. It was normal for Di Lin to have such a thought, as that was a thought many men would have. Apart from Situ Yan’s background, the other reason Di Lin treated her better was that Xia Yunxi had not remained to fight Xiang Shaoyun to the end at the Flame Mountains. He had started suspecting that she still had feelings for Xiang Shaoyun. That was the real reason Di Lin finally accepted Situ Yan.[13]
To his dissapointement, as they were nearing the exit of the Gleamstar Blessed Land, Xiang Shaoyun reappeared. Di Lin was indignant and swore that next time he'll die. However, Xiang Shaoyun was more blunt and issued him a life and death challenge in front of everyone as withnesses. Nobody had seen the challenge coming. Now, everyone was waiting for Di Lin’s response. This was not the first time Xiang Shaoyun had challenged Di Lin. Back then, Di Lin had avoided the challenge and had sent his subordinate Zhu Changchuang with the excuse that Xiang Shaoyun was not a worthy opponent. Now that Xiang Shaoyun was challenging him right to his face in front of so many people, he no longer had a way out. This time, Di Lin was resolute and accepted. Previously, he had avoided the challenge because he lacked the confidence to win. Now, he had consumed a large amount of dragon liquid to reach fifth-stage Dragon Ascension Realm. Meanwhile, Xiang Shaoyun was still stuck at second-stage Dragon Ascension Realm. What was there to fear? Hovewer, the elder interrupted them as the space was going to collapse. Due to the elder’s objection and the restricted space’s destruction, the duel between Xiang Shaoyun and Di Lin was forced to be postponed. Half a month later, it was time for the life and death duel.[15] Xiang Shaoyun and Di Lin started their battle right off the bat without exchanging too many words. They had grown up together, and they knew each other well. Both knew that without defeating the other party, his own life would be lost. Xiang Shaoyun wanted Di Lin to be thoroughly convinced about his own death and thus did not use all his strength from start and instead provoked him several time to use all his trump cards.[16] After Di Lin used all his moves including his strongest Sunset Dusk, he decided to swallow the Emperor Eruption Pill that his master had given him.[17] After absorbing the power of the Emperor Eruption Pill, Di Lin’s cultivation realm soared to the seventh stage, an increase of two stages. His combat prowess also increased by several times. As long as Xiang Shaoyun keep dodging his attacks with his speed, he will be able to outlast the effect of the pill but he did not do as he wished for him to suffer a defeat he cannot deny. In the end, Xiang Shaoyun used his soul power in Di Lin by letting him face his betrayal causing Di Lin’s morale to crumble apart and his fear to rose apart. And that trace of fear transformed into a fatal opening. The saber swept over, and a head flew up into the sky.[18] After personally killing Di Lin, Xiang Shaoyun did not feel any joy. Rather, he had a heavy mood. He had grown up with Di Lin, and he had once viewed Di Lin as a brother. It was a feeling that couldn’t be easily erased. Because of that, Di Lin’s act of betrayal and snatching his lover, Xia Yunxi, caused him an insane amount of pain. Many times, he had imagined killing Di Lin. But now that he had turned it into reality, his heart ached, and his various emotions were in contradiction with each other.[19]
After the battle, Di Lin’s corpse had arrived before Situ Mingyu. A bottle of spring water appeared in his hand as he poured the water onto the cut on the neck. The water had a miraculous effect. As it exuded a heavy aura, it shone with an almost holy radiance as it wrapped around the wound on Di Lin’s neck. After an unknown amount of time, the head and the neck actually rejoined. Not even a scar was left. This was a sight that could shock anyone. After a while, something seemed to have happened within Di Lin’s skull, and his eyes opened. It was quite an eerie sight. The Di Lin before him was no longer the same person. Situ Mingyu had replaced his soul with his son’s.
Situ Mingyu once had a son named Situ Yaotian. He was incredibly talented, and similar to Di Lin, possessed an eight-star physique. The only difference was that he did not possess a unique elemental physique, so his original body was slightly worse than Di Lin’s. Even so, that did not stop him from quickly becoming a young prodigy. Unfortunately, during his breakthrough into the Heaven Battling Realm, an accident occurred and claimed his life. His body was destroyed, and even his soul was near complete destruction. Fortunately for him, his father, Situ Mingyu, arrived in time and rescued his soul. Over the years, Situ Mingyu had been thinking of ways to revive his son. Ultimately, he had set his sights on Di Lin, who had joined the Dragon Phoenix Academy. Di Lin bore some resemblance to his son, and the two also had eight-star physiques with an affinity to the flame element. Thus, he decided to use Di Lin’s body for his son’s resurrection. To give his son a better starting ground after his resurrection, Situ Mingyu planned to nurture Di Lin until he reached the Sovereign Realm. Unfortunately, Di Lin had failed in his match against Xiang Shaoyun and was even killed. Thus, Situ Mingyu was forced to bring forward the resurrection plan. Although the circumstances weren’t as good as he had planned, he was still happy that his son was alive again. He was willing to do anything for this. However, things were not as simple as Situ Mingyu thought.
Di Lin’s soul had not completely dispersed yet. A remnant had still remained within his head, and after Situ Yaotian’s soul had entered, the two souls had fought each other for control. Di Lin’s soul had the home advantage. Although he had just suffered a major defeat, the remaining soul power was beyond Situ Yaotian. Thus, Situ Yaotian had his soul devoured instead. If Situ Mingyu knew the truth, he would probably spit blood in anger. The one speaking was, in fact, still the same Di Lin. However, he had inherited part of Situ Yaotian’s memories, resulting in some changes to his soul. The changes had resulted in the appearance of a Di Lin that was scarier than before. He was both filled with joy and fury at the moment. Joyful because he was still alive and still have a chance and filled with fury because he finally discovered why his master was so good to him. He swore that he'll ensure a miserable death to both Xiang Shaoyun and Situ Mingyu.[20]
When Xiang Shaoyun had killed Di Lin, Situ Mingyu had resurrected Di Lin with a treasure and sent his son’s soul into Di Lin’s headspace in the hope of giving his son an opportunity to live again. Ultimately, Di Lin had devoured Situ Mingyu’s son and obtained his memories, allowing his path of cultivation to become smoother. Di Lin had also received Situ Mingyu’s full support, making it possible for him to grow rapidly. With Di Lin’s unique Innate Flame Physique, he also had a terrifying combat strength that allowed him to punch above his class. But since he didn’t want others to know of his resurrection, he had worn a mask since then. He had also assumed the name Situ Dilin both to obtain Situ Mingyu’s trust and remind himself that he was someone who had died once. His survival was for the sake of revenge.[21]
Di Lin hated Xiang Shaoyun with every fiber of his being. He had been suppressed by Xiang Shaoyun since birth. In his childhood, he was forced to fawn over Xiang Shaoyun. He wouldn’t be satisfied with killing Xiang Shaoyun alone. He wanted to kill every single person related to Xiang Shaoyun, such as Yu Caidie, the Dragon Phoenix Academy’s number one beauty. This was a woman Xiang Shaoyun liked, so he would not spare her. All he had in his heart was a grim murderous desire. Not even Yu Caidie’s beauty could move his heart. One could say that after fusing with Situ Mingyu’s son, his character had changed as well.[22]

Back then, he had still viewed Xiang Shaoyun as his young master even though he had despised Xiang Shaoyun for not cultivating.
